One of my
main career goals is to become a sports photographer and make a name for
myself. For my final project for my
Photography Seminar class this semester, I had to find someone that works in
the career field that I want to get into. For this assignment I reached out and
got to talk to famous National Hockey League (NHL) and Olympic photographer,
Bruce Bennett. After interviewing him and asking the questions about the job, I
asked Mr. Bennett how he would suggest someone get started in the field of sports
photography. He told me the best way is to start at lower level games (pee-wee,
high school, beer leagues). So this past month I have began to photograph
hockey games and am still trying to perfect the craft with help from a fellow
experienced high school sports photographer, Todd Coleman (Facebook page: Drop
The Puck). I currently shoot with a Nikon D90 with a Nikon f/2.8 80-200mm lens.
