My Career Goal

One of my main career goals is to become a sports photographer and make a name for myself.  For my final project for my Photography Seminar class this semester, I had to find someone that works in the career field that I want to get into. For this assignment I reached out and got to talk to famous National Hockey League (NHL) and Olympic photographer, Bruce Bennett. After interviewing him and asking the questions about the job, I asked Mr. Bennett how he would suggest someone get started in the field of sports photography. He told me the best way is to start at lower level games (pee-wee, high school, beer leagues). So this past month I have began to photograph hockey games and am still trying to perfect the craft with help from a fellow experienced high school sports photographer, Todd Coleman (Facebook page: Drop The Puck). I currently shoot with a Nikon D90 with a Nikon f/2.8 80-200mm lens.

Over the course of the semester i got the chance to photograph some birds on the side while shooting my class projects. I like shooting wildlife as a whole but birds have this very majestic factor to them. Whether it is a dirty trash eating seagull or a bald eagle, each bird has a "beauty" aspect about it. These shots were taken at Robert Moses Beach, NY,  Kings Park Bluff, NY,  and Central Park, NY. 

I plan on photographing some Bald Eagles that are located in the Upstate New York area come spring time.  Till then i wont photograph too many birds in the winter, although, i would love to get a shot of a Cardinal in the winter with a snowy background.

From Film to digital

Over the years I have taken photos of many sunsets. I have taken my fair share with film cameras and others with DSLR cameras and a very old camera phone. I have shot from Alaska to Kuwait, from Iraq to New Jersey and New York. From planes and from the ground. In the cold and in the heat. Nothing has changed other than my ever-perfecting compositions and techniques. Nevertheless, seeing the progression of my photography has really shown me how far I have come over the years.  Also, not one sunset is like the next.  These photos range from 1998 to 2018.
