Thinking Outside the Box
This photo I took with the seascape works of Hiroshi
Sugimoto in mind. Like myself,
influenced by the writings and works of Marcel Duchamp, as well as the Dadaist
and Surrealist movements. Hiroshi
Sugimoto took photos of many different oceans and seas in black and white using
a large format camera. With his works in mind, as well as one of our old
assignments on abstract I decided to take my Nikon D50 and use a semi-long
exposure on an angle during a sunset on the beach and take a photo with the
water blurred. The end result was this vibrant blue ocean with an orange/pink
sky with barely enough detail to tell it’s the ocean.
